We’ve been enjoying the sunshine recently, is it too early to say summer is well and truly here? At Swindon Web Creations we think there’s nothing quite like coming together for a cold drink in a sunny pub garden. Below we share some of our team’s favourite local spots and why we love them.
The White Hart, Wroughton
Why we love it
Nestled in the heart of Wroughton village and overlooking the Marlborough Downs, The White Hart has had a stylish revamp. It serves everything from pub classics to wood fired pizzas. We especially love their commitment to supporting local too, sourcing beer from Deya Brewing Company in Cheltenham and organic coffee from Project Coffee in nearby Swindon.
Jonny recommends: Marinara and black olive pizza.
The New Calley Arms, Wroughton
Why we love it
Perched on the hill in the village of Wanborough, The New Calley Arms has that timeless, welcoming vibe of a proper village pub. But don’t let the traditional look fool you – the team go above and beyond to accommodate guests, including whipping up a completely custom meal for someone with a long list of allergies. Now that’s service.
Rhianna recommends: Fish and Chips
The Riverside, Lechlade
Why we love it
What says summer more than a pint by the river? The Riverside does exactly what the name suggests – offering a prime spot right on the Thames. It’s the perfect place to unwind and watch the boats go by – or, if you’re feeling adventurous, hire a pedalo for a paddle up the river and back.
Chris recommends: Riverside Burger
The Blunsdon Arms, Blunsdon St Andrew
Why we love it
The Blunsdon Arms is a north Swindon gem, with all-weather appeal, thanks to its heated outdoor sheds. Perfect for unpredictable British summers, it’s a great spot to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy table service that lets you stay seated and make the most of the sunshine.
Paul recommends: Open Steak Sandwich
Highworth Hotel, Highworth
Why we love it
Tucked away in Highworth, The Highworth Hotel’s courtyard garden is a delightful surprise. Sheltered yet sunny, it’s ideal for peaceful afternoons – especially when the flowers are in full bloom. The live music evenings and tapas menu add an extra layer of charm.
Maddy recommends: Bang Bang Broccoli
Local Places, Real People
What we love most about these places – beyond the great food and lovely settings – is the people behind them. It’s their care, creativity, and community spirit that make these spots stand out.
At Swindon Web Creations, we’re lucky to work with small businesses that bring our towns and villages to life. Whether you’re a fellow local or just passing through, we hope this inspires you to discover (or rediscover) somewhere new.
If you’re a local business looking to improve your website or grow your digital presence, we’d love to help – just give us a shout!
